Some potentially big news: Sony has signed a publishing partnership deal with Firewalk Studios (alongside parent company ProbablyMonsters), and together, they're are developing a brand new multiplayer property. It's fairly safe to assume that it'll be a PlayStation 5 game.
Founded in 2018, Firewalk Studios is spearheaded by a number of veteran developers, many of whom have worked on AAA titles in the past. "Ryan Ellis, our Game Director, was a Creative Director on Destiny. Elena Siegman, our Executive Producer, was a producer on Guitar Hero II, Bioshock Infinite, and multiple Destiny releases. Our deeply talented team has helped bring to life franchises like Mass Effect and Apex Legends," writes studio head Tony Hsu on the PlayStation Blog. Hsu has worked on both Destiny and Call of Duty.
Whatever this new game turns out to be, it sounds like it's already in the works, and is playable in some form. "We’re already hard at work on development and have been having a ton of fun playing our game as a team," Hsu confirms. Hsu goes on to say that the team will have more to share when "the time is right".
Head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst has been playing this new game as well, it seems.
Given the talent on display, we're looking forward to seeing what this could be — hopefully a reveal isn't too far off. What would you like to see from this new IP? Squad up in the comments section below.

It’s most likely going to be some form of looter shooter. This sort of announcement makes me think it’ll be another one given away with PS Plus.
Ok. Good.
More good news please. You're still in a hole sony.
This makes no sense. Sony only invests in "too big to fail" established single player third person adventure games, I've been told.
Woah that's cool. I love how now they announce stuff any time without waiting for some reality show (like E3)
I hope it isn't first person though. Just my personal dislike for the genre
This is good as there was a big gap in good exclusive multiplayer games (at least from my knowledge). They’re dropping single player games every month it seems. Maybe this game will be a big part of their recent purchase of EVO?
Ohhh... im very interested in this. A big Sony looter shooter could be pretty cool esp with some of the Ex-Destiny guys on board, whatever you think of Destiny, their skyboxes and gun play are best in class.
I see Sony trying to drown out the negative news with positive news.
Very exciting! Awesome that Hermen is already playing!
I'll maintain my extreme skepticism given Sony's mostly terrible track record with multiplayer games over the past generation and change.
I don't do multiplayer, but I doubt it'll be similar to the games they've previously worked on. The reason I say that is because Sony has a Moto that they made clear not too long back that they want new ideas and not to take market share away from existing franchises with similar games. So I am curious at least!
SOCOM looter Shooter I'm calling now
This is really exciting! I've been waiting for a while for Sony to get back into the multiplayer genre, with something like MAG or a new Killzone. This sounds really promising.
Oh great, another multiplayer game.
You can feel with HurstRyan Sony is going to start dipping there toes into the money machine that is live service games.
There are a number of ex-Destiny devs now at ProbablyMonsters who really shone through in the old Bungie vidocs with their passion for the looter shooter genre, particularly as players themselves (Jon Weisnewski, Josh Hamrick and Claude Jerome). I am definitely excited.
Anxious to find out what game this is, more specifically, its genre. I can assume it will probably be a FPS given the talent at hand but it could also not be. Hopefully we find out more sooner rather than later.
I guess you don't need to buy everyone when you have good relationships around the industry.
This one sounds very interesting.
I think I speak for PS2 network ogs just gone is Socom man.... PLEASE
E3 and FGS are going to be packed with announcements come summer.
Please be a new MAG game
"Ex-Destiny devs"
Please, pleeeease don't keep chasing that unicorn that is/was Destiny, it was a culmination of great gameplay at the right time, but it won't happen again, at least not so soon. Hell, even Destiny isn't as good as Destiny anymore.
I wonder if this will go the same route of the last game we saw with "ex-Destiny veterans" at the helm.
After Godfall and Destruction All Stars, I can't really get excited for these random games from random studios that Sony seems to dig up.
It's entirely my own personal point of view, but not one of the games they've name-dropped is a selling point as far as I'm concerned.
