Ryan permanently joined the Nintendo Life team in 2017, specialising in keeping readers up to date with the latest news. He can list the first 151 Pokémon all in order off by heart – a feat he calls his ‘party trick’ despite being the biggest introvert we know.
It was Pokémon that kicked off his love for video games as a child, a passion which soon extended to gaming as a whole and particularly the world of Nintendo. Writing about games for a living wasn't something he ever thought would be possible, but after dabbling in making Nintendo-focused music videos on YouTube and being spotted by the Nintendo Life team, he suddenly found himself working in a role he'd previously admired.
In his first few years with the team, Ryan was a key figure in the creation of Nintendo Life's daily news content, writing and overseeing thousands of articles during that time and eventually making his way up to the role of News Editor. In 2022, he took on a new challenge as Hookshot's newly-appointed Ecommerce Writer, overseeing affiliate opportunities across all of the company's websites – Nintendo Life, Push Square, Pure Xbox and Time Extension.
